Buddy Program's Laura Seay

Laura Seay has been the Recruitment Manager at the Buddy Program for more than 3 years.  The Buddy Program was founded in Aspen in 1973 and has been providing mentoring (and more!) by advancing the mission to empower youth through mentoring experiences in order for them achieve their full potential.  Laura became a Big Buddy herself more than 5 years ago and is still matched with a not-so-little-anymore girl in Basalt.  Laura also serves as the Silent Auction Coordinator for the Buddy Program’s annual fundraiser, the Bash for the Buddies, and treasures her connections to the countless community partners who support the Buddy Program every year.

In Laura’s words: I’m finding inspiration in several ways:

  • To stay informed, I listen to the New York Times’ podcast every morning.  The Daily

  • To stay grateful, I read historical fiction novels with a focus on the second World War. Learning about the sacrifices made by people across the globe during that time reminds that we all must do our part. Most recently, I read Dragonfly by Leila Meacham and Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan.

  • To stay calm, I color! I found a lovely artist’s coloring book by Joy Ting called Joyful Designs. I use fine point Sharpies to color in her beautiful illustrations. It’s a great way to disconnect and dream. Add in your favorite playlist (mine are Madeleine Peyroux, Leon Bridges or The Meters) and settle in for some quiet moments.
