About the Program
After-school Art early release Wednesdays, 2:15pm - 4:45pm, are a chance for elementary children in K - 4th grades to be creative, learn through art, and have fun with friends.
In each session, students will explore a theme through different mediums such as collage, painting, sculpture, and more! Our instructors uses their dynamic creativity and the resources at hand, so children learn about many different types of art forms and themes throughout the school year.
We are excited to have Ms. Amber teaching through a variety of mediums, processes, and art games!
Cost $90 (3 sessions)

About the Session
Class Theme: Dragonflies
Instructor Amy Beidleman will lead students through the steps to complete an artwork at the end of the class. Through demonstration and guided practice, the students will learn key watercolor techniques, such as, wet-on-wet, creating hard and soft edges, glazing, lifting, spattering, and many more. About the Session
Learn the basics of machine sewing while creating your own custom canvas tote bag! In this one-evening workshop, you'll guided step-by-step through constructing a sturdy, functional bag.

Your class will be taught by Carly Price, the artist and founder behind Clever Magpie Glass Works. Carly is a stained glass artist specializing in the copper foil (Tiffany) method. With a formal background in the theatrical arts and years of hands-on experience working with glass, Carly is passionate about making stained glass approachable and enjoyable for beginners. Her teaching style is supportive, clear, and process-focused—guiding students step-by-step while encouraging creativity and confidence.Whether it’s your first time cutting glass or holding a soldering iron, Carly ensures a welcoming environment where students can learn new skills, ask questions, and leave with a finished piece they’re proud of.

Curious about sewing but not sure where to start? Join this welcoming, beginner-friendly series to learn the basics of machine sewing in a supportive, creative environment. We'll cover foundational skills including how to use a sewing machine and basic stitches while working on creative fabric collage projects. Through these projects, participants will build confidence, develop foundational sewing skills, and explore the creative possibilities of working with fabric.

Linoleum block printing, also known as lino printing or linocut, is a versatile printmaking technique that involves:
Carving images and designs into linoleum blocks.
Inking the carved blocks.
Pressing them onto paper to achieve a printed image.
No two images turn out the same, the only limit is your creativity!
Linocut, also known as lino print, lino printing or linoleum art, is a printmaking technique, in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show the areas to be printed.

Instructor: Annie Decamp is a mixed-media artist whose work is grounded in 19th-21st-century historical research and imbued with a deep reverence for the connection between humanity and the natural world. Moving effortlessly between the joyful and the somber, Decamp explores the breadth of the human experience, creating works that invite viewers to discover multiple narratives and emotional truths within a single image.
Decamp’s work is collected throughout Colorado, the United States, and internationally, and has been exhibited in museums and galleries across Colorado. A dedicated educator, Decamp has taught extensively throughout the Denver metropolitan area, both from her own studio and at a variety of educational institutions, mentoring artists of all ages and levels of experience.
In addition to her studio practice, Decamp is the co-founder of Yard Art Contemporary, a successful Denver art movement dedicated to showcasing the work of fellow artists in an intimate environment that brings collectors and artists together while strengthening the regional arts community.

In this workshop, artist Annie Decamp invites participants to explore collage as both an accessible entryway into art-making and a powerful source of inspiration for the seasoned artist.
Drawing from Decamp’s own history of working in traditional collage, digital collage, and mixed media, the first class will focus on play and experimentation. Using found imagery and materials, participants will cut, layer, rearrange, and combine elements to create an original collage. The emphasis is on discovery rather than perfection—learning to trust the eye, follow intuition, and allow surprising combinations to emerge.

Plein Air Watercolor Painting
About the Instructor:
Nika Meyers is a watercolor, plein air and mixed media artist living and working in Aspen, Colorado. She is a resident artist at the Red Brick Center for the Arts. She loves sharing her passion for plein air painting with others, as it is a process that allows one to slow down, focus and see the environment more deeply.
Through mixed media pieces, primarily combining watercolor, ink and thread, she juxtaposes landscapes and uses detailed line drawings.

Plein Air Watercolor Painting with Nika Meyers
Love watercolor? Take your painting practice outdoors with this Plein Air Watercolor class! Plein air is a French term meaning "open air" and refers to the practice of painting outside, directly from nature and observation.
The class will begin at the Red Brick Center for the Arts with a brief introduction and distribution of supplies before heading to a nearby park. Surrounded by Aspen's beautiful scenery, you'll learn watercolor techniques while observing light, color, and the natural landscape firsthand. Class Theme: Summer Landscape
Instructor Amy Beidleman will lead students through the steps to complete an artwork at the end of the class. Through demonstration and guided practice, the students will learn key watercolor techniques, such as, wet-on-wet, creating hard and soft edges, glazing, lifting, spattering, and many more. Learn helpful watercolor techniques to use with a variety of subject matter.

Instructor: Join local and highly recognized artist Olivia Daane for an artful dive into the medium of sumi ink.

Discover the fundamentals of Sumi ink painting, a traditional East Asian art form rooted in simplicity, movement, and mindfulness. In this class, participants will learn basic brush techniques, ink control, and composition while experimenting with line, texture, and form.
Through guided exercises and creative exploration, you’ll build confidence working with ink and develop your own expressive style. All levels welcome.

Plein Air Watercolor Painting
About the Instructor:
Nika Meyers is a watercolor, plein air and mixed media artist living and working in Aspen, Colorado. She is a resident artist at the Red Brick Center for the Arts. She loves sharing her passion for plein air painting with others, as it is a process that allows one to slow down, focus and see the environment more deeply.
Through mixed media pieces, primarily combining watercolor, ink and thread, she juxtaposes landscapes and uses detailed line drawings.

Plein Air Watercolor Painting with Nika Meyers
Love watercolor? Take your painting practice outdoors with this Plein Air Watercolor class! Plein air is a French term meaning "open air" and refers to the practice of painting outside, directly from nature and observation.
The class will begin at the Red Brick Center for the Arts with a brief introduction and distribution of supplies before heading to a nearby park. Surrounded by Aspen's beautiful scenery, you'll learn watercolor techniques while observing light, color, and the natural landscape firsthand. Whether you're new to watercolor or looking to expand your skills, this class offers a relaxing and inspiring way to connect with art and the outdoors.
Participants should come prepared for a short walk and ready to sit outside for the duration of the class.

Meet Your Instructor:
Your class will be taught by Carly Price, the artist and founder behind Clever Magpie Glass Works. Carly is a stained glass artist specializing in the copper foil (Tiffany) method. With a formal background in the theatrical arts and years of hands-on experience working with glass, Carly is passionate about making stained glass approachable and enjoyable for beginners. Her teaching style is supportive, clear, and process-focused—guiding students step-by-step while encouraging creativity and confidence.Whether it’s your first time cutting glass or holding a soldering iron, Carly ensures a welcoming environment where students can learn new skills, ask questions, and leave with a finished piece they’re proud of.

Enjoy an evening of hands-on creativity while contributing to a collaborative community project. Participants will create a personalized tote bag to take home. Stamps created in this workshop will remain at the Red Brick for event use.

Linoleum block printing, also known as lino printing or linocut, is a versatile printmaking technique that involves:
Carving images and designs into linoleum blocks.
Inking the carved blocks.
Pressing them onto paper to achieve a printed image.
No two images turn out the same, the only limit is your creativity!
Linocut, also known as lino print, lino printing or linoleum art, is a printmaking technique, in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show the areas to be printed.

Mall Fest 50 Art Parade & Block Party

Aspen Public Art presents Mall Fest 50 Art Parade, an artist-led, people-powered procession of costumes, contraptions and performances celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Aspen Pedestrian Mall.
On June 27, 2026, the pedestrian parade will traverse the Mall and Aspen Saturday Market, ending in a block party at Sister Cities Plaza.
By collaborating exclusively with local artists and encouraging upcycling of materials, Aspen Public Art emphasizes the importance of collective creation, place-based cultural production and creative reuse. Imagination is wildly encouraged, with free community workshops leading up to the parade and a costume contest, photo booth, and prizes on parade day. The Art Parade is free and open to all.

What is Mall Fest 50?
Mall Fest 50 is a public art celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Aspen Pedestrian Mall.
As innovative as the Mall itself—constructed in 1976, the first car-to-pedestrian transformation in the state and one of the few remaining in the nation—Mall Fest 50 will feature a series of public art experiences across the car-free city park in the summer of 2026. Mall Fest 50 will include:

The Art Parade is open to all. Individuals, families, friend groups, schools, and neighborhood and community groups are invited to participate. Create your parade ensemble on your own or at one of our public workshops.
All entries must be handmade and people powered. Motorized vehicles (other than ADA mobility devices) and live animals (other than service animals) are not permitted. This includes bicycles, which are not allowed on the Mall.
Be inspired by the theme: What do you LOVE about this place?
We encourage everyone to be in costume – including parents and guardians accompanying children.
Costumes and ensembles must be noncommercial. No identifiable logos, written words, registered trademarks, or cartoon characters may be worn. This includes uniforms, T-shirts or signage representing organized teams, troops, schools or civic organizations.
Entries may not advocate for or against a particular political or religious belief. No identifiable flags or symbols from any country, political party, or religious representation of any kind, including verbal, may be displayed.
Throws (e.g.candy or swag) and water spraying are not permitted. No distribution of leaflets or flyers is allowed during the parade or along the parade route.
Children 14 and under must be accompanied by someone over the age of 18.
Aspen Public Art reserves the right to approve all entries and to require participants to change their entries at APA’s sole discretion.

Mall Fest 50 Art Parade Workshop #4
The Mall Fest 50 Art Parade is coming June 27!
Join Aspen Public Art for a hands-on workshop to create your own costume, mask, or prop for the parade. The theme of the parade is “What do you LOVE about this place?” – a creative invitation to come together and bring joy to the streets.
Artist/educator Reina Katzenberger and her team at The Project Shop will help participants create wearable art to don for the Art Parade. Basic supplies will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring reclaimed, recycled and/or compostable fabric, materials and ornamentation that they would like to upcycle into their fits and kits.
Workshops are free with registration. Space is limited and early sign-up is encouraged to ensure materials and your spot.
Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Please see Parade Guidelines below.
