More than Honey

The West Gallery at the Red Brick Center for the Arts presents More Than Honey, a solo exhibition by artist Sophia Foster, with an opening reception to the public on Wednesday, June 5th, from 5-7pm.

“If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live.” - Albert Einstein

Sophia Foster: After reading this quote by Albert Einstein I went on a journey exploring the importance of honeybees in the pursuit of better understanding these small yet powerful creatures. As I went through the process of creating this body of art inspired by the importance of honeybees, my heart poured out its admiration and love for life onto the canvases before you. They are invitations to explore our connection with the care of a honeybee and the capacity of their spirit being as much a part of who we are as beings living in unison within this universe.

Sophia Fosters work is a channeling of expression and energy that comes from her internal environment and the paralleled external world. From the mountains to the depths of the ocean Sophia finds herself immersed in the creative flow that inspires her work most, reflecting all that surrounds us as imagery which depicts whats deep within us as well. Sophia’s vision as an artist is to facilitate a remembrance of our innate connection with earth and self as being one.
