  • Red Brick Center for the Arts 110 East Hallam Street Aspen, CO, 81611 United States (map)

About the Session

Find portrait drawing intimidating? Curious about how to get facial proportions just right? Join Aspen Art Museum Teaching Fellow and local artist Shelly Marolt for an evening of approachable, confidence-building portrait drawing.

Shelly will guide participants through simple techniques and hands-on exercises for understanding facial proportions, helping take the fear out of portraiture. Through guided warm-ups, drawing from observation, and optional photo references, students will learn how to structure a portrait before developing a more personal, expressive style.

Open to all levels. Come ready to learn, experiment, and build practical tools you can return to again and again. Participants are welcome to bring a photo for portrait inspiration

Participants must be 21 years of age or older.
